We commend to your prayers the soul of our brother, Fr. Louis Michael Pintye, O.F.M. (62), who passed into eternal life in the early hours of Sunday, August 20
th while a resident at the Camelot Arms Nursing Home, Youngstown, Ohio. At the time of his passing he was affiliated with the community of
Mount Alverna Friary -
Shrine of Our Lady, Comforter of the Afflicted, Youngstown, Ohio.
Born in Trenton, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Anna Marie
(Majoros) and Louis Nicholas Pintye. He is survived by his brothers Robert of Trenton, New Jersey and Michael of Brentwood Tennessee.
Fr. Louis first pursued his studies as a candidate for priesthood with the Carmelite order, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Latin from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He entered the Carmelite Novitiate in Williamstown, Massachusetts but before its completion, he discerned that God had called him to take a closer look at his vocation. He spent an interim period of time as an elementary educator prior to his reception in 1983 as a postulant with the Franciscans of the Hungarian Custody ofSt. John Capistran, Roebling, New Jersey. He then continued his studies for priesthood at St. Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers, New York. On
June 23, 1984 Fr. Louis was invested in the Franciscan habit and in June of 1985 made his Temporary Profession of Vows at Holy Assumption Parish in Roebling, New Jersey. He continued his studies at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Seminary in Orchard Lake, Michigan. On May 21, 1989 he made his Solemn Profession of Vows at his home parish ofSt. Stephen, King of Hungary, Trenton, New Jersey.
During his 27 years of priestly ministry following his ordination on October 6, 1990, Fr. Louis served the people of God as a Parochial Vicar at St. Ladislaus Church, New Brunswick, New Jersey; St. Anthony of Padua Church, Troy, New York; and St. Joseph Church in Winsted, Connecticut. From January 1998 to May 2011, Fr. Louis served as Administrator of St. Emery's Church, Fairfield, Connecticut.
A wake and Mass of Christian Burial were conducted at St. Anthony of Padua Church, New York City on Wednesday, August 23
rd• Provincial Minister Fr. Robert Campagna, O.F.M.,was the celebrant and Fr. Capistran Polgar, O.F.M. was the homilist for the liturgy. On Thursday,
Fr. Louis was interred in the family plot at St. Nicholas Byzantine Hungarian Cemetery, Hamilton Township, New Jersey.
