Franciscan Friars – Province of the Immaculate Conception

Main Content

Who We Are

We are Franciscan Friars (formally known as the Order of Friars Minor, OFM), a Religious Order of men who strive to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ by following the example of our founder St. Francis of Assisi. The Rule of the Friars Minor confirmed by Pope Honorius III (1223) is the basis of our life and the laws of our Order.

The Franciscans are found all over the world, incorporated in Provinces and Custodies and governed by the Minister General with his Council. In North America, we are present in the United States and Canada. Our own province, the Province of the Immaculate Conception minister throughout New York, New England, Toronto, Canada and parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Florida; along with our missions in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala.

We are based in New York City and our friars are led by our Provincial Minister and his Council.
